PIKEVILLE, Ky. – For a second straight year, Pikeville (Ky.) is the Mid-South Conference cheerleading champions. The Bears captured their second all-time title today at the 2014 Mid-South Conference Cheerleading Championships, held at UPike Gym on Pikeville's campus.

Campbellsville (Ky.) finished runner-up in the team championships followed by Georgetown (Ky.), Cumberlands (Ky.) and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.).

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The 2014 Mid-South Conference Cheerleading Championships are heading to Pikeville on Sunday. Competition starts at 2:30 p.m. ET at the UPIKE Gym where admission will be $5 or free for anyone with a college ID.

Cheer was added as an official emerging sport by the NAIA last season. The host Bears won their first team championship last year at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington, Ky. Pikeville's Jaimie Ward was named Cheerleader of the Year and Jeannie Stone was named Coach of the Year for leading the Bears to the title.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Forty-one Mid-South Conference cheerleading student-athletes earned Academic All MSC honors, conference officials announced on Saturday.

In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved at least sophomore academic status.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Pikeville won the championship of the 2013 Mid-South Conference cheerleading competition, held Wednesday night at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School.

In addition it was a big night for Campbellsville University, which won the co-ed stunt competition, the mixed stunt competition and the all-girl stunt competition.
