COLUMBIA, Ky. – The 2016 Mid-South Conference football season gets underway on Thursday with six Mid-South Conference teams in action.

Four more teams from the MSC round out the action on Saturday.

NAIA Football Preseason Coaches' Top 25 Poll

COLUMBIA, Ky. – A quintet of Mid-South Conference teams are ranked in the NAIA Football Preseason Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced on Monday.

Reinhardt (Ga.) is the highest ranked team from the MSC in the poll as they earned 202 points to place them 11th in the poll. The Eagles went 9-2 last season and finished second in the MSC West Division with a 4-1 record in the division. Reinhardt also made their first appearance in the NAIA Football Championship Series in 2015.

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Reinhardt (Ga.) is the near-unanimous pick to win the Mid-South Conference West Division, while Georgetown (Ky.) is the favorite to finish atop the East Division standings, according to the conference's preseason football coaches' poll announced today.

Georgetown received 35 voting points -- including five of the seven first-place votes -- from the East coaches. Reinhardt garnered 25 total points and five of the six first-place votes in the West.

LAURINBURG, N.C.- St. Andrews University, a Branch of Webber International University, Director of Athletics Glenn Batten has announced the hiring of David Harper as the new head Football coach for the Knights.

"I am pleased that Coach Harper will be joining the St. Andrews Knights as we establish our football program. His broad experience as a player, coach and teacher made him a great match for our new program. He understands our commitment to the NAIA and character-driven intercollegiate athletics," Batten said.

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Mid-South Conference and The Sun Conference are merging to form the largest football conference in college sports.

Conference officials announced Thursday that beginning with the 2017 season, the Mid-South Conference will include 20 teams which will compete in three divisions. The new, expanded football conference will allow three teams to earn an automatic bid to the NAIA Football Championship Series.
