COLUMBIA, Ky. – Shawnee State (Ohio) was the near unanimous favorite to capture the 2016 Mid-South Conference Women's Cross Country Championship, according to the coaches' preseason poll, conference officials announced on Tuesday.

The Bears earned 49 total points and seven of the eight first-place votes. In 2015, Shawnee State won the conference title recording 18 total team points.

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Lindsey Wilson Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jamaine Gordon announced on Wednesday that Nick Wilson has been hired as the head cross country coach and assistant track & field coach for the Blue Raiders.

Wilson takes over the helm of the men's and women's cross country programs, while Gordon will oversee all operations of the Blue Raider cross country and track & field programs, including continuing to serve as the head track & field coach.

NAIA Women's Cross Country Top 25 Coaches Poll

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Shawnee State (Ohio) closed out the 2015 season ranked No. 12 in the NAIA Women's Cross Country Postseason Top 25 Coaches Poll, NAIA officials announced on Wednesday.

The Bears received 262 voting points from the national raters after a 12th-place finish at the national championships on Saturday in Charlotte, North Carolina.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Shawnee State (Ohio) matched its best-ever finish at the NAIA Women's Cross Country National Championship at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday.

The Bears scored 385 team points led by Anna Havranek and Sarah Biehl. Havranek finished 39th with a time of 18 minutes and 33 seconds while Biehl -- the MSC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year -- ended in 54th in 18:48 over the 5,000-meter course.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Eight Mid-South Conference men's cross country student-athletes and 13 women earned NAIA Scholar Athlete honors, NAIA officials announced on Friday.

In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.50 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved at least junior academic status.
