ROBERTS, MUELLER & TACKETT
ARE HONORED AS
MID-SOUTH CONFERENCE
SCHOLAR ATHLETES OF THE YEAR

Melanie Roberts of the University of the Cumberlands, Amanda Mueller of Lambuth University and Jared Tackett of the University of the Cumberlands have been selected as the 2005-06 Mid-South Conference Female & Male Scholar Athletes of the Year. This honor is decided by vote of the league's Faculty Athletic Representatives as announced by Commissioner Mike Pollio.

Roberts, a four-year defender on Cumberlands' Soccer Team, is a senior from Owensboro, Kentucky. She is majoring in Elementary Education and has a 4.0 GPA. Upon her graduation from Cumberlands, Melanie plans to pursue a career in Elementary Education and get her master's degree on her way to a National Teacher Certification.

Mueller, a four-year participant at shortstop on Lambuth's Softball Team, is a senior from Decatur, Alabama. She had a double major of in Chemistry & English and has a GPA of 3.94. Upon her graduation from Lambuth, Amanda plans to attend graduate school at Florida State University and work on a compound that targets lung cancer and leukemia.

Other nominated women's athletes this year were:  Jennifer Noort of Campbellsville, Katie Columbus of Georgetown and Jeanie Hamblin of Pikeville.

Tackett, a four-year participant on Cumberlands' Track & Field Team, is a senior from Jenkins, Kentucky. He is a Communication Arts major with a GPA of 3.80. Upon his graduation from Cumberlands, Jared plans to attend graduate school and study Architecture.

Other nominated men's athletes this year were:  Kyle Caven of Campbellsville.
