After Mike Gibson sank a three-pointer to put Cumberlands ahead 64-63 with 14 seconds left, Georgetown came down the floor and found senior forward Kevin Reinhardt all alone under the basket for a layup with 1.0 seconds left that gave third-ranked Georgetown a 65-64 win and the league's automatic bid in the national tournament. With the win, Georgetown will take a 20-game win streak into the Buffalo Funds NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship. The Tigers became the first team in Mid-South Conference history to go through the regular-season and tournament undefeated, winning all 12 games played against MSC opponents this season. Cumberlands (20-10) led most of the way, and was on top 55-52 after two Chris Simmons free throws with 5:32 left. But Georgetown scored seven unanswered points, including a deep three by senior Craig Schoen with 3:26 left to push the Tiger lead to 59-55. The teams traded baskets for the next two minutes before a Georgetown turnover gave the Patriots the ball with 39 seconds left trailing by two. A missed shot was rebounded by Simmons, who kicked it to an open Gibson, whose three gave the Patriots the lead and set the stage for Reinhardt's heroics. Georgetown (29-3) was led by MSC Co-Player of the Year Brian Silverhorn, who had a game-high 24 that included a three-pointer at the 3:03 mark of the first half that made him the ninth member of the 2,000-point club at Georgetown College. Reinhardt, who had eight in the final 4:31, joined Donnovan Brown with 12. Brown added 10 rebounds in the win. Cumberlands, ranked 14th in the final Div. I poll, was led by Brown's 14. Howell, whose three with 14 seconds left put his team ahead was his third of the day, finished with 13. Simmons, who had five points and a pair of blocks, added 10 rebounds, half off the offensive glass. Ingles beats buzzer for second straight league tournament title PIKEVILLE, Ky. - No moment more clearly defines Yogi Berra's saying, déjà vu all over again. One year to the weekend after hitting a jumper to send Eastern Kentucky University to the NCAA tournament for the first time in decades, Zach Ingles pump-faked, stepped inside the top of the key and swished a jump shot with 1.0 second on the clock to give Campbellsville University a 65-63 win for its first Mid-South Conference title in history. It was an unbelievable finish to the first tournament weekend ever at the newly opened Eastern Kentucky Exposition Center. Ingles, who transferred to Campbellsville for his senior season, had a lot of confidence. "I knew I wouldn't miss it," he said. "I wanted to win this one so bad for these guys. Campbellsville's been in a little bit of a drought lately, and I wanted to win this for them." The shot ended Ingles' final game in the Commonwealth with 20 points. Ingles' heroics nearly weren't needed. The Tigers led 63-56 after he hit a layup with 2:13 remaining, but Georgetown junior Brian Silverhorn drove the lane for a layup that he converted into a three-point play to cut the deficit to 63-59 with 1:58 left. After a Campbellsville turnover, Georgetown had its most critical offensive possession - junior Robert Cox hit a free throw but missed the second. Donnovan Brown grabbed the rebound and kicked it into the corner to Silverhorn who knocked down a three to tie the score at 63 with 1:12 to show. Campbellsville (26-5) got the ball back, but Ingles missed a shot that was rebounded by Georgetown's Craig Schoen, who then stepped on the baseline to give the ball back to Campbellsville with 36.9 seconds left. That proved close enough to the 35-second clock to hold for the last shot. Campbellsville got the ball into Ingles' hand with 19 seconds left, and he never gave it up. The 6-foot-6 Silverhorn was guarding him tightly, causing Ingles to step inside the arc and knock down the game-winning basket. Senior Zach Allender led Campbellsville with 26 points and nine rebounds. Georgetown (25-7) got 21 from Silverhorn, who hit three three-point shots. Junior Mark Surgalski finished with 15 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers, who dominated the glass 38-27 thanks to a dozen by Brown.
