Six of the 12 Mid-South Conference Football teams are listed as the NAIA has released its first ever pre-season spring ratings on Monday, April 30. They are:

SCHLUETER RECEIVES NAIA
FOOTBALL HONORS

Dempsey Schlueter of Georgetown College was named the NAIA Special Teams Player of the Week for the games played the week ending September 30. Dempsey scored 11 points on Saturday vs. UVA-Wise, making all 5 of his extra points and also kicked 2 field goals from 35 & 37 yards out. He is 100% on all his PAT's and FG's this season for the Tigers.

MORGAN, CARTER RECEIVE
NAIA FOOTBALL HONORS

Ra'shad Morgan of the University of Virginia-Wise and Travis Carter of Cumberland University (TN.) were named as the NAIA Players of the Week for Offense & Special Teams respectively for the week of September 23.

Ra'shad set a new UVA-Wise single-game rushing record with 289 yards on Saturday afternoon against Cumberland U. He carried the ball 34 times to average 8.5 yards per rush. Ra'shad also scored 4 rushing touchdowns for the Cavaliers of 51, 36, 4 and 12 yards.

Travis returned two Cumberland U. kickoffs for touchdowns covering 93 & 84 yards in the same game at UVA-Wise. He had a total of 203 return yards in 3 total kickoffs for the Bulldogs.

GEORGETOWN, BETHEL FAVORED
FOR MSC FOOTBALL DIVISIONS

The football coaches of the Mid-South Conference have chosen Georgetown College and Bethel College as their picks to win the MSC East and West Division football titles this fall, respectively. The voting was done recently as the Mid-South held its annual meeting at Georgetown College.

Mid-South Football will again be playing in two six-team divisions this fall. West Virginia Tech has joined the Mid-South as a full member and will play football in the East Division. Shorter College will move to the West Division to replace Kentucky Wesleyan. Lambuth University will continue to play in the MSC as a football member only.

Georgetown captured 5 first place votes on the East Division ballot for a total of 25 points. The Tigers are coming off a season of 9-3, 8-0 in conference play and 5-0 in the East Division.

University of the Cumberlands (8-3, 6-2, 3-2), got the second place nod with 20 points and 1 first place vote. Union College (4-6, 4-4, 3-2) was third with a total of 16 points.

Bethel received 5 first place votes on the West Division ballot for a total of 25 points. Last season, the Wildcats were 7-4 overall, 6-2 in conference play, and 5-0 in the West Division.

Lambuth University (5-6, 5-3, 3-2) was second in the voting with 21 points and had 1 first place vote. Belhaven College (5-6, 4-4, 3-2) was third with 16 points.

Each Mid-South school will play 5 games against all other teams in its own division, and 3 games against teams in the other division. Of the 8 conference games, 4 games will be at home, 4 games will be on the road.

The results of the poll are as follows, listed by school, 2005 final overall record, poll points and first place votes, with teams getting 5 points for a first place vote, down to one point for 5th. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team and could only vote for schools in their own division.

GEORGETOWN, LAMBUTH FAVORED
FOR MSC FOOTBALL DIVISIONS

The coaches of the Mid-South Conference have chosen Georgetown College and Lambuth University as their picks to win the MSC football East and West Division titles this fall. The voting done recently as the Mid-South held its annual meeting at the University of the Cumberlands.

The Mid-South will be playing in two 6-team divisions this fall with the addition of Shorter College to the league. Each divisional champion will receive an automatic bid to the NAIA Playoffs.

Georgetown captured 4 of 6 first place votes on the East Division ballot with a total of 24 points. The Tigers are coming off a season of 12-1, 10-0 in MSC play.

University of the Cumberlands (formerly Cumberland College) (8-3, 7-3) got the second place nod with 22 points and 2 first place votes. Pikeville College (8-3, 8-2) was third with a total of 17 points.

Lambuth received 3 first place votes on the West Division ballot for a total of 23 points. The Eagles were 8-3, 7-2 in MSC play in 2004, finishing in fourth place.

Campbellsville University (6-5, 5-5) was second in the voting with 21 points and had 2 first place votes. Bethel College (5-7, 5-5) was third with 19 points and 1 first place vote.

Each Mid-South school will play a total of 8 conference games this season. 5 will be against all other teams in its own division, and 3 against teams in the other division. 4 games will be at home, 4 games will be on the road.

GEORGETOWN FAVORED FOR MSC FOOTBALL CROWN

The coaches of the Mid-South Conference have voted Georgetown College as their pick to win the MSC football title this fall. Voting was done recently as the Mid-South held its annual meeting at Campbellsville University.

Georgetown captured 10 of the 11 first place votes on the ballot for a total of 100 points. The Tigers are coming off a season of 9-3, 8-1 in MSC play (Co-Champions). This is the seventh consecutive year that Georgetown has been rated first in the pre-season conference poll.

Lambuth University (9-3, 8-1 MSC Co-Champions) got the second place nod with 84 points. Campbellsville University 9-2, 7-2 MSC) was third with 80 points.

The results of the poll are as follows, listed by school, last year's final overall record and poll points, with teams getting 10 points for a first-place vote, down to one point for 10th. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.
