Campbellsville Wins 2007 Mid-South
Conference Cheerleading Championship


FRANKFORT, Ky. - The Campbellsville University Cheerleaders took home the first place trophy at the 2007 Mid-South Conference Cheerleading Competition held on Thursday night at the Frankfort Civic Center. Three-time defending champion Georgetown College finished second and the University of the Cumberlands placed third in the five team competition that also featured squads from Lindsey Wilson College and Pikeville College.

Each team had two cheerleaders named to the All-Conference Cheerleading squad. The ten cheerleaders selected were Lindsey Atwood and Alicia Wren from Campbellsville University; Amanda Farris and Greg Foley from the University of the Cumberlands; Jordan Nabity and Lyndsey Penland of Georgetown College; Lauren Prater and Lindsey Stephens from Lindsey Wilson College along with Miranda Dotson and Chelsea Fields from Pikeville College. Penland, of Georgetown, was also named Mid-South Conference Cheerleader of the Year and Campbellsville's Vanessa Adkins was named Coach of the Year.

Twenty-two cheerleaders were named to the Academic All-Conference squad. They were: Laruen Prater, Elizabeth Phillips, Tamera Scull, Shauna Turner, Erin Williams, Sarah Wilson, Carlon Woodall and Latisha Yates of Lindsey Wilson College; Shana Bevins, Chelsea Fields, Amanda Salyer and Ashley West of Pikeville College; Michelle Lackey, Jolina Miller, Amy Shemwell and Emily Sturgill of the University of the Cumberlands; Zac Bailes, Kimberly Horne, Betsy Isaac and Jordan Nabity of Georgetown College and Ashley Bewley and Emily Daugherty of Campbellsville University.

CHEERLEADING COMPETITION
SET FOR THURSDAY, MARCH 1


    The 2006-07 Mid-South Conference Cheerleading Championship will be held in conjunction with the Men's & Women's Conference Basketball Tournament in Frankfort, Kentucky. The competition will take place at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, the night before the start of the basketball tournament, which will run Friday through Sunday. The Frankfort Convention Center will be the venue.

    Admission to the Cheerleading Championship will be $5 per person.

    The Mid-South is the only conference in the NAIA to hold a championship event for cheerleading.

GEORGETOWN WINS MSC
CHEERLEADING COMPETITION


The cheerleading squad of Georgetown College successfully defended their Mid-South Conference Cheerleading Championship tonight by winning the annual competition held before the Mid-South Conference Basketball Tournaments.

The event was held in the Eastern Kentucky Exposition Center in Pikeville, Kentucky and featured five of the six Mid-South Conference Cheerleading teams.

Campbellsville University placed second in the team cheer competition with the University of the Cumberlands finishing third.

In the stunt group competition, Georgetown # 2 took home top honors.

All-Conference awards were also presented at the conclusion of the competition. Jordan Nabidity of Georgetown College was named MSC Cheerleader of the Year and Kristi Graves from Lindsey Wilson College was named MSC Cheer Coach of the Year.

Named as All-Conference selections were Shelley Breeding and Stephanie Russell of Campbellsville University; Heather Parks and Greg Foley of the University of the Cumberlands; Meagan Lorenzen and Derek Johnson from Lindsey Wilson College; Bethany Joseph and Micca Watts of Pikeville College and Paige Priest from Georgetown College.

Academic All-Conference honorees were as follows:

Campbellsville: Emily Keck, Janice Hill, Ryan Donohue and Stephanie Russell.

University of the Cumberlands: Jolina Miller and Tarrah Minor.

Georgetown College: Brittany Carpenter, Brooke Traylor, Jordan Nabidity and Randa Stovall.

Lindsey Wilson College: Carlon Woodall, Elizabeth Phillips, Erin Williams, Meagan Lorenzen, Shaunna Turner and Tamera Scull.

Pikeville College: Aimee Sayler, Amanda Sayler, Bethany Joseph, Chelsea Fields, Elizabeth Anne Floyd, Krisitian Turner, Micca Watts, Shana Bevins and Shelly Fuller.

GEORGETOWN REPEATS AS
MSC CHEERLEADING CHAMPION


    Georgetown College has won the 2004-05 Mid-South Conference Cheerleading Championship, besting Cumberland College & Lambuth University today. The competition was held at the Frankfort Civic Center in Frankfort, Kentucky.

    The MSC is the only conference in the NAIA to hold a championship event for cheerleading.

GEORGETOWN COLLEGE WINS
CHEERLEADING COMPETITION


    Georgetown College has won the 2003-04 Mid-South Conference Cheerleading Championship, besting six other MSC schools today. The competition was held at Lambuth University in Jackson, Tennessee.

    Lambuth was second, followed by Cumberland (Ky.) in third place, Lindsey Wilson (4th), Campbellsville (5th), Cumberland (Tenn.) (6th), and Pikeville (7th).

    The MSC is the only conference in the NAIA to hold a championship event for cheerleading.
