MID-SOUTH CONFERENCE COMMISSIONER

The Mid-South Conference (MSC) is accepting resumes and nominations for the position of Conference Commissioner.  The MSC is affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and is comprised of 10 all-sports members and six football only institutions. The conference sponsors championships in the following sports:  Baseball, Men's and Women's Basketball, Men's and Women's Bowling, Co-ed Cheerleading, Men's and Women's Cross Country, Men's and Women's Golf, Football, Men's and Women's Soccer, Softball, Men's and Women's Tennis, Men's and Women's Track and Field and Volleyball.

The MSC Commissioner reports directly to the conference's Council of Presidents.  The responsibilities of the Commissioner include, but are not limited to, the following:  serves as the principal rules enforcement officer of the conference, serves as Secretary-Treasurer of the conference, serves as an ex-officio member  of all conference committees, coordinates officials for the various conference sports, actively seeks corporate sponsorship opportunities throughout a wide geographic region, acts as the liaison between the conference and representatives of the media, develops playing schedules and supervises all conference championships, supervises the conference Sports Information Director and other conference staff.  The commissioner must be a self-starter, a strong financial manager, actively recruit new members for the conference, seek financial support, and undertakes other duties essential to the successful operation of the conference.

Candidates for this position should display strong leadership and motivational qualities with proven oral and written communication skills.  Experience in collegiate athletic administration and a thorough working knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations are essential.  A bachelor's degree is required and a Master's degree is preferred.  The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
