JACKSON, Tenn. -- It was a good night for the Mid-South Conference at the NAIA Women's Basketball National Tournament. And the games haven't even begun.

Three individuals with ties to the MSC and the Campbellsville University Lady Tigers were recognized tonight during the national tournament's annual banquet on the eve of the tournament at Oman Arena.

Georgetown College women's basketball coach Susan Johnson was inducted into the NAIA Basketball Hall of Fame.

Campbellsville University's Whitney Ballinger was named the State Farm/WBCA NAIA Women's Basketball Player of the Year.

Mid-South Conference women's basketball supervisor of officials Lois Holmes was recognized as the head of the officials at this year's national tournament.

The Campbellsville University women's basketball team received the NAIA's Champions of Character award given to the team that represents the five core character values the NAIA embraces.

"It was another terrific night to be a part of our great conference," MSC Commissioner Mike Pollio said. "Coach Johnson, Whitney, Lois and Coach Colvin and her team are deserving of every accolade. They have represented themselves and the Mid-South Conference with highest integrity and we congratulate them on their accomplishments this year and throughout their careers."

Johnson completed her 30th season in 2009-10. She has won 572 games in her prestigious career while leading her Tiger teams to 11 national tournaments and three Elite Eight appearances. Johnson's teams have won nine conference championships and she has been selected conference coach of the year seven times.

The WBCA-NAIA Hall of Fame is the highest honor bestowed to an individual.

Ballinger adds the WBCA honor to her MSC Player of the Year award. The Carrollton, Ky., junior, enters the national tournament averaging 21.9 points and 11.4 rebounds per game.

She has scored more than 1,200 points and pulled down more than 600 rebounds in her Campbellsville career.

Ballinger and her teammates begin national tournament play at 10:15 a.m. CT on Wednesday against Louisiana State University-Shreveport at Oman Arena in Jackson.

University of the Cumberlands and Lindsey Wilson College begin their tournament play on Thursday. Lindsey Wilson faces Vanguard (Calif.) University at 2:15 p.m. CT and Cumberlands plays Xavier (La.) University at 4:30 p.m. CT also at Oman Arena.
