FRANKFORT, Ky. - Campbellsville University scored the game's first 13 points en route to a 20-2 start as they charged into the championship of the 2010 Mid-South Conference women's tournament with a 82-59 win over archrival Lindsey Wilson College Friday afternoon.

Campbellsville, 31-1 and the top seed in the weekend's tournament, will await the winner of this afternoon's second semifinal between second-seed Cumberlands and No. 6 Pikeville for tomorrow evening's 6 p.m. championship game.

Lindsey Wilson fell to 20-11 on the season and will await the results of tournaments around the country to see if it will get an at-large bid to the NAIA Div. I basketball tournament in Jackson, Tenn.

Three Tigers scored during the opening run, including junior Wendi Messer, who hit two three's, including one at 15:18 to make it 13-0.

After Lindsey Wilson got a bucket from Lindsey Waters to end the streak, Mid-South Conference player of the year Whitney Ballinger scored the next seven by herself, and when she tossed in a basket with 15:18 left, it was already 20-2.

Coach John B. Wethington's Blue Raiders wouldn't give up, and cut the deficit to single digits on a basket by Waters with 16:33 left in the game to make it 45-37. But they could get no closer and fell to their rivals for the third time this season.

Ballinger led all scorers with 28 and rebounders with 13. The junior also had five blocked shots in the win.

Messer and junior Courtney Danis had 14 points each for the Tigers, while junior Melly Heaton finished with 10.

Lindsey Wilson got a double-double by junior Viktoria Krell as she finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Waters followed her career-high 27 yesterday with 14 today.
