FRANKFORT, Ky. -- The Mid-South Conference announced its women's basketball all-conference team on Wednesday night at the conference's annual banquet. Campbellsville University junior forward Whitney Ballinger is the MSC Women's Basketball Player of the Year. Ballinger is one of 10 women named to the team as voted on by the conference coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players. Ballinger ranked in the conference's top-two in six individual categories. She ended the regular season second in scoring (21.5 points per game), rebounding (11.6), field goal percentage (51.6 percent), and steals per game (2.4). She led the conference in double-doubles (19) and block shots per game (3.6). Beyond the conference, Ballinger ranked in the NAIA's top-five in scoring, rebounding, blocks and double-doubles. Her 19 double-doubles led the nation. The Carrollton, Ky., native, earned MSC Player of the Week honors a record nine times and NAIA National Player of the Week on three occasions. Campbellsville junior Courtney Danis, University of the Cumberlands senior Stephanie Quattrociocchi and sophomore Lauren Wombles, Georgetown College freshman Kourtney Tyra, Lindsey Wilson junior Viktoria Krell, Pikeville College junior Natiera Hinton, University of Rio Grande juniors Leah Kendro and Jenna Smith and West Virginia University Tech junior Shyla Jones join Ballinger on the all-conference team. Tyra was selected as MSC Freshman of the Year by the league coaches after leading the Tigers in scoring and assists. The McKee, Ky., native, averaged 12.4 points and 3.8 assists per game. Danis is the Mid-South Conference's Champions of Character recipient. She earned the award -- as voted on by the conference athletics director -- for her civic and servant leadership within the campus and community. Campbellsville's Ginger Colvin was selected by her peers as MSC Coach of the Year. Colvin led the Tigers to their second straight MSC regular season title and the first undefeated MSC record (14-0) in the league's history. Campbellsville finished the regular season with a 29-1 overall record.
