COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team is the sole representative from the Mid-South Conference in the NAIA National Tournament, the NAIA announced on Sunday.
The Blue Raiders earned the conference's automatic bid after capturing the MSC Tournament title in penalty kicks last week over Georgetown College.
Lindsey Wilson is the national tournament's top seed and will host Missouri Baptist University on Saturday at Walter S. Reuling Stadium in one of 16 opening-round games. The winners advance to the final site in Decatur, Ala. beginning on Nov. 30.
Lindsey Wilson (17-2-2) is making its 11th national tournament appearance in the program's history, including nine straight.
Lindsey Wilson enters Saturday's game on an 18-match unbeaten streak. The Blue Raiders last loss came on August 29 to Azusa Pacific (Calif.) University.
Missouri Baptist (12-7-1) reached the 32-team, single elimination tournament as the American Midwest Conference Tournament champions. This is the Spartans first-ever appearance in the national tournament.
Lindsey Wilson and Missouri Baptist split the two all-time meetings with each winning on the other's home field. The Spartans won 3-2 in Columbia in 2002 and the Blue Raiders won 4-0 in 2003.
