GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College won its way into the Mid-South Conference Women's Soccer Tournament finals and Georgetown College advanced on penalty kicks in the semifinal today at Toyota Stadium. Lindsey Wilson and Georgetown meet at 4:30 p.m. ET on Friday for the MSC Tournament title. In today's first semifinal, Lindsey Wilson senior and MSC Player of the Year Yolanda Hamilton scored three first-half goals to lead top-seeded and No. 1-ranked Blue Raiders to a 3-0 win over fourth-seeded West Virginia University Tech. The Blue Raiders improve to 17-2-1 on the season with their 13th straight win of the season. WVU Tech ends its season at 9-6-3. In the second semifinal, regulation and two overtime periods wasn't enough as the Tigers and Patriots ended in a 2-2 tie. Georgetown advanced into the finals 8-7 in penalty kicks. Georgetown's Katie Sundall and an own goal provided the Tigers' scoring while Cumberlands' Leslie Allred scored both Patriot goals. Third-seeded Georgetown moves to 12-7-1 on the season while second-seeded Cumberlands goes to 11-5-2. Lindsey Wilson won the earlier meeting this season 3-0 at Georgetown. Kickoff for the championship is set for 4:30 p.m. ET. |
