LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Shorter College's A.J. Cooley and Campbellsville University's Calvin Bini are the Mid-South Conference Football Players of the Week for the week ending Oct. 24, the conference announced on Monday.

The weekly conference award is the first of the season for each.

Cooley rushed for 206 yards on a school-record 40 carries to earn the MSC Offensive Player of the Week. The Bowden, Ga., senior fullback, rushed for three touchdowns in the Hawks' 56-41 win over Union College.

Cooley's 206 yards marks the fifth time in his career he has gone over the 200-yard plateau in a game.

He leads the Mid-South Conference with a 121.8 yards per game average and 12 touchdowns. Cooley's 974 rushing yards this season also tops the MSC.

Shorter improved to 5-3 overall with the win. The Hawks are 2-1 in the MSC West Division heading into next week's division battle with Cumberland University.

Bini was instrumental -- both defensively and on special teams -- in the Campbellsville's 21-14 upset of No. 19-ranked Georgetown College. The junior cornerback from Radcliff, Ky., earned both MSC Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts this weekend.

Bini recorded five solo tackles and two assisted tackles while picking off two Georgetown passes to earn the defensive conference award. He collected the special team award after averaging 16.5 yards per punt return, including a 54-yard return that set up Campbellsville's second touchdown.

Bini leads the Mid-South with an 11.5 yard punt return average on the season.

With the win, Campbellsville improves to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in the MSC East Division. The Tigers travel to No. 13-ranked University of the Cumberlands next Saturday in Williamsburg.
