LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Cumberland University's Todd Holman and Mitch McChurch and Bethel College's John Graham are the Mid-South Conference Football Players of the Week for the week ending Oct. 17, the conference announced on Monday. The weekly conference award is the first of the season for each. McChurch ran for a career-high 151 yards and two touchdowns to earn the MSC Offensive Player of the Week. The senior fullback from Mt. Juliet, Tenn., averaged 6.6 yards per carry to help the Bulldogs to a 27-20 win over UVa-Wise. McChurch led the Bulldog ground attack to 296 yards rushing. On the season, McChurch averages 48.6 yards per game. He has a team-high four touchdowns this season. Holman recorded 1.5 sacks and picked off a pair of passes to earn Mid-South Defensive Player of the Week. The junior linebacker from Sparta, Tenn., recorded five tackles -- three solo and two assisted -- and led a Cumberland defense that amassed 10 sacks and held the Cavaliers to -51 yards rushing. Holman is third in the MSC and 14th in the NAIA averaging 9.7 tackles per game. This season, Holman has six tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. With the win, Cumberland improves to 3-4 on the season. The Bulldogs are 1-1 in the MSC West Division. Graham averaged 23.7 yards per punt return and scored a touchdown to earn MSC Special Teams Player of the Week. The Union City, Tenn., junior wide receiver, amassed a total of 71 yards, including a 48-yard touchdown return, to help the Wildcats to a 68-23 win over West Virginia Tech.
