LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Lambuth University's Adam Wiese, Belhaven College's Cameron Achord and Faulkner University's Triston McCathern are the Mid-South Conference Football Players of the Week for the week ending Sept. 26, the conference announced on Monday.

The weekly conference award is the first of the season for each.

Wiese broke a pair of school records with six touchdown passes and 440 yards passing to earn Mid-South Offensive Player of the Week. The sophomore quarterback from Indianapolis completed 32 of 42 passes on his record setting day. Wiese also rushed for a touchdown in the Eagles' 60-20 win over Virginia-Wise.

Wiese is second in the MSC and eighth in the NAIA averaging 281.5 passing yards per game and is tied for the conference lead with 12 touchdown passes this season.

No. 9-ranked Lambuth improves to 4-0 on the season with Saturday's win. The Eagles travel to West Alabama on October 3.

Achord recorded 21 tackles in Belhaven's 21-13 win over Bethel College to earn MSC Defensive Player of the Week. The senior defensive back recorded 13 solo tackles, including a pair of tackles for a loss, to help the Blazers remain atop the MSC West Division with a 2-0 divisional record.

The Brookhaven, Miss., native, is eighth in the conference averaging 8.5 tackles per game. He's second on the team with 34 total tackles and tied for the team lead with 22 solo tackles.

Belhaven (2-2 overall) returns to action on Saturday as they travel to Faulkner.

McCathern earned the MSC Special Teams Player of the Week following his school record 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. The freshman running back from Panama City, Fla., averaged 44.3 yards per kickoff return and 8.3 yards per punt return in a 43-27 loss to No. 11-ranked Shorter College.

McCathern is second in the MSC in kickoff (31.1) and punt (13.3) return yards. His 342 kickoff yards ranks third in the NAIA this season.

Faulkner (1-3) hosts Belhaven next Saturday in a MSC West Division matchup.
