LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Fifty-eight Mid-South Conference student-athletes earned National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-American honors and 74 student-athletes earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete during the 2008-09 season.
Twenty-eight student-athletes earned NAIA First Team All-American, including six Mid-South Conference Players of the Year. University of the Cumberlands' Luke Fitzgerald (men's basketball), Lindsey Wilson College's Moses Aduny (men's soccer), Kimmia Parker (women's soccer), Trina Slapeka (women's tennis) and Krista Burton (women's golf) and Shorter College's Ashlie Stewartson (women's outdoor track & field) added first team All-American honors to their conference player of the year honors.
Twelve student-athletes earned NAIA Second Team All-American, including four Mid-South Conference Players of the Year. Campbellsville University's Chris Curley (baseball) and Teresa Masava (volleyball) and Lindsey Wilson's Viktoria Krell (women's basketball) and Freddy Luciani (men's tennis) were named second team All-American in addition to their conference player of the year honors.
A pair MSC student-athletes earned NAIA Third Team All-American honors and 16 earned honorable mention All-American. The 58 student-athletes competed throughout the season in the conference sanction sports including baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, football, men's and women's golf, men's and women's soccer, softball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's outdoor track & field and volleyball.
The NAIA honored 74 MSC student-athletes with its highest academic award during the season. The 74 NAIA Scholar-Athletes maintained an overall grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and were a junior or higher in academic standing.
