RAPID CITY, S.D. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team is 12th after firing a team total of 325 at the NAIA National Championships' opening round at Meadowbrook Golf Course.

The Blue Raiders struggled throughout the day on the greens -- the team combined for 19 three-putts -- and failed to adjust to the constantly changing weather conditions. Lindsey Wilson is 29 strokes back of opening round leader California Baptist University (297).

Lindsey Wilson junior Krista Burton shot a five over par 77 in the opening round, including birdies on two of her last three holes. She finished the day with a team-high three birdies.

The Jamestown, Ky., native, is tied for 20th in the 144-woman field and sits six strokes off the pace of California Baptist's Adriana Niclotti who shot a one-under par 71.

Lindsey Wilson freshman Paola Gonzalez is tied for 56th overall after an 81 and junior Jessica Smith is tied for 78th with an 83. Sophomore Chelsey Key (84) and junior Cheslee Stone (91) are tied for 86th and 123rd respectively.

The Blue Raiders continue play in the national championships with the second round on Wednesday.
