LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of the Cumberlands captures the 2008-09 Mid-South Conference President's Cup following the season-long competition that awards points based on regular season finishes in the conference's 17 sports, the conference announced on Saturday.

Cumberlands scored 77 points to finish just in front of second place Lindsey Wilson College who finished with 72 points. Georgetown College finished third with 68 points and Campbellsville University finished fourth with 66 points.

Pikeville College (26), West Virginia University Institute of Technology (21) and St. Catharine College (21) rounds out the seven-institution competition reserved for the conference's full members.

The win is the sixth in the last seven seasons for Cumberlands.

Patriot teams earned the maximum number of points for either winning or tying for the regular season championship in women's basketball, men's cross country, football, men's golf and men's soccer. Cumberlands received the maximum number of points in men's and women's outdoor track and field after finishing the highest of the full member institutions.

Lindsey Wilson used regular season titles in women's golf, men's soccer, women's soccer, men's tennis and women's tennis to finish second. Georgetown finished third with titles in men's basketball and volleyball and Campbellsville finished fourth with championships in baseball, women's basketball, cheerleading, women's cross country and softball.

"This has been another incredible year of competition for the Mid-South Conference," MSC Commissioner Mike Pollio said. "The President's Cup is a comprehension competition of the finest institutions in the NAIA. We congratulate the University of the Cumberlands, their administration, coaches and student-athletes for their outstanding performance throughout the year."
