LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College captured the 2009 Mid-South Conference Women's Golf Championships presented by the Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau today at Nevel Meade Golf Course.

Lindsey Wilson finished with a team-total of 633 (311-322), 45 strokes clear of second place Campbellsville University (352-326). Georgetown College (680) and University of the Cumberlands (704) finished third and fourth respectively.

Lindsey Wilson's Krista Burton earned medalist honors following her second straight three over par 75. Burton finished with a two-day total of 150, four shots ahead of teammate Jessica Smith's 154. Cumberlands' Kayla Peace tied for the low round of the day with a 75. Peace finished third with a 158.

The Blue Raiders' 45-shot win completed the season-long competition for the Mid-South Conference's automatic bid into the NAIA National Championships in May. Lindsey Wilson won the six-round competition over three tournaments with a final total of 1,933. Georgetown finished second with a score of 2,061 and Campbellsville finished third with 2,094.

Burton earned MSC Golfer of the Year for her performance over the three conference tournaments. Burton was joined on the all-conference team by Peace, Lindsey Wilson's Chelsey Key and Georgetown's Natalie Brown, Jessica Collins and Tiffany Samborsky.

Following the tournament, nine student-athletes were honored as Academic All Mid-South Conference for being of sophomore standing or above and maintaining at least a 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale. The following list is the academic all-conference performers:

Campbellsville's Cheris Evans is the Champions of Character recipient. Evans earned the award -- as voted on by the conference athletics director -- for her civic and servant leadership within the campus and community.

Lindsey Wilson coach Chris Wells and Campbellsville coach Lindsay Hines were selected co-coaches of the year as voted on by their peers.
