LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College leads the Mid-South Conference Women's Golf Championship following today's first round at Nevel Meade Golf Course.
The Blue Raiders shot a team-total of 311 over the 5,833 yard, par 72 links style course and lead second place Georgetown College (342) by 31 strokes.
Campbellsville University (352) and University of the Cumberlands (354) completes the four-team field.
Lindsey Wilson extended their lead in the race for the conference's national tournament at-large bid to 112 strokes over Georgetown entering the sixth and final round on Tuesday. The team with the lowest amount of shots over the six conference-sanction rounds throughout the year receives the conference's automatic bid into the NAIA National Championships in May.
Lindsey Wilson's Krista Burton owns a one shot lead over teammate Jessica Smith entering Tuesday's final round. Burton birdied three holes en route to a three-over par 75 (37-38). Smith fired a four-over par 76 (40-36).
Lindsey Wilson's Chelsey Key's 79 (40-39) is third and Georgetown's Marlene Nall (40-41) and Lindsey Wilson's Cheslee Stone (38-43) are tied for fourth with opening round 81s.
The final round is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28, at Nevel Meade.
