COLUMBIA, Ky. – Cumberlands (Ky.) is the preseason favorite to win the 2017-18 Mid-South Conference men's swimming title according to the MSC coaches', conference officials announced on Thursday.

The Patriots earned 46 total points in the preseason poll and four of the eight first-place votes. Cumberlands finished second in the conference meet last season.

Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) sits just behind the Patriots in the poll with 43 total points and three first-place votes.

The Lynx are the two-time-defending Mid-South champs.

Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) collected the final first-place vote and is projected to finish third in the poll with 40 points. Loyola (La.) is projected to finish fourth with 31 points.

Campbellsville (Ky.) tallied 24 points and Bethel (Tenn.) collected 17 points and are projected to finish fifth and sixth place respectively.

First-year program Midland (Neb.) is picked to finish in seventh with 13 voting points.

After not fielding a men's swimming program last year, Life (Ga.) returns to action and rounds out the poll with 11 points.

Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.

The 2018 Mid-South Conference Championship is scheduled for Feb. 2-4 at the Kingsport Aquatics Center in Kingsport, Tennessee.
