Mid-South Football Weekly Report - Oct. 7

COLUMBIA, Ky. – There are eight Mid-South divisional contests on tap for week seven. Sixteen teams are in action this week.

Two 1:30 p.m. ET kickoffs start Saturday's schedule of games. No. 3 Reinhardt (Ga.) hosts Cumberlands (Ky.) in a matchup between the top teams in the Appalachian division.

In another MSC Appalachian game, Point (Ga.) travels to face Pikeville (Ky.).

In a 2:30 p.m. ET start, Bethel (Tenn.) hosts No. 10 Georgetown (Ky.)

Cumberland (Tenn.) hits the road to face Cincinnati Christian (Ohio) at 2:30 p.m. ET.

In a 5:00 p.m. ET kickoff, Ave Maria (Fla.) hosts Faulkner (Ala.). Both teams are 1-0 in MSC Sun divisional play. 

In Bluefield's (Va.) first Appalachian divisional game, they host St. Andrews (N.C.) at 6:00 p.m. ET.

Two 7:00 p.m. ET kickoffs round out week seven. Kentucky Christian travels to Campbellsville (Ky.) in their first MSC Bluegrass game.

No. 15 Southeastern (Fla.) returns from a bye week to host Warner (Fla.) in their first MSC Sun division action.

Last week, 18 teams from the Mid-South Conference were in action.

In the MSC Sun opener, Ave Maria defeated Edward Waters (Fla.), 48-35. Jordan Barrow set an Ave Maria school record with three interceptions in a game and earned MSC Sun Defensive Player of the Week.

Clayton Nicholas threw for 374 yards and five scores in Faulkner's 48-21 win over Webber International (Fla.).

In a matchup of ranked teams, No. 12 Georgetown prevailed over No. 22 Cumberland, 38-28. The Tigers never looked back after building a 24-7 halftime lead.

Pikeville totaled 473 yards of total offense in their 41-6 win over St. Andrews.

In a game that featured 1,019 yards of offense and 80 total points, Campbellsville outlasted Bethel, 43-37 in overtime. Chantz Goodman broke off a 20-yard touchdown run for the game-winning score.

Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) overmatched Cincinnati Christian, 56-7. Quinten Brown returned a punt 66 yards for a score on his way to earning MSC Bluegrass Special Teams Player of the Week.

Reinhardt rushed for 364 yards and seven touchdowns in a 62-28 victory over Point.

Bluefield used a 36-yard overtime field goal from Tanner Griffith to slip past Warner (Fla.), 13-10.

To round out week six, Cumberlands edged past rival Union (Ky.), 33-30. Joe Rose nailed a 19-yard field goal at the end of regulation as the Patriots claimed the Brass Lantern trophy.

Four MSC teams remain ranked heading into the weekend -- Reinhardt (3rd), Lindsey Wilson (6th), Georgetown (10th) and Southeastern (15th). Cumberland, Cumberlands and Campbellsville are in the receiving votes section.
