NAIA Football Preseason Coaches' Top 25 Poll

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- A quartet of Mid-South Conference teams are ranked in the NAIA Football Preseason Coaches' Top-25 Poll, NAIA officials announced on Monday.

Reinhardt (Ga.) and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) each boast a top-10 ranking while MSC newcomer Southeastern (Fla.) and Georgetown (Ky.) round out the Mid-South's ranked teams. Faulkner (Ala.), Pikeville (Ky.) and Warner (Fla.) sit just outside the top 25 in the receiving votes category.

Reinhardt opens 2017 in the same spot that it finished last season. The No. 3-ranked Eagles -- who reached the NAIA Football Championship Series semifinals a year ago -- received 327 voting points from the 16 national raters. Reinhardt ended 2016 with a 12-1 record, winning the MSC West Division. Reinhardt is the lone ranked MSC Appalachian Division team in the poll.

Lindsey Wilson picked up 268 voting points and sits at No. 8 in the preseason poll. The Blue Raiders finished 11-2 in 2016 en route to reaching the FCS national quarterfinals. Lindsey Wilson is the highest ranked MSC Bluegrass Division team in the poll.

Southeastern checks in at No. 16 -- two spots up from the spring poll. The Fire garnered 137 voting points following a 6-3 record in 2016 and their first-ever appearance in the FCS. Southeastern is the lone ranked MSC Sun Division team in the poll.

Georgetown joins Lindsey Wilson in the poll from the Bluegrass Division. The Tigers are ranked No. 21 with 82 voting points from the national raters. Georgetown shared the MSC East last season and ended the year with a 7-4 overall record.

Faulkner, Pikeville and Warner are among seven teams to receive votes but sit outside the top 25.

Faulkner picked up 19 voting points while Pikeville -- who shared the MSC East last season with Georgetown -- received nine voting points. Warner -- another newcomer to the MSC this season -- received the final Mid-South mention with five voting points.

Saint Francis (Ind.) -- the defending national champion -- sits atop the poll with 366 voting points and all 16 first-place votes. Baker (Kan.) is No. 2 in the poll with 351 voting points.

The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and Independents.

The first regular-season poll is scheduled to be released on Monday, Sept. 11.
