College Football America 2017 Yearbook NAIA Starting Lineup

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Seven Mid-South Conference football student-athletes have been selected to the College Football America 2017 Yearbook NAIA Starting Lineup, CFA officials announced on Sunday.

Campbellsville's (Ky.) Bradley Bates, Kentucky Christian's Emmett Keyes, Lindsey Wilson's (Ky.) Tony Brackins and Allen Cooks, Reinhardt's (Ga.) Xavier Carter and Warner's (Fla.) Drew Clark and Dajshon Oliver were all selected to the 26-man team.

Lindsey Wilson and Warner are among three programs to place a pair of players on the preseason squad. Only defending national champion Saint Francis (Ind.) and runner-up Baker (Kan.) produced more. Baker has four representatives on the team while Saint Francis has three.

Bates and Cooks headline the special teams.

Bates -- the lone place kicker on the team -- connected on 14 field goals and hit 43-of-47 extra points last season for the Tigers. His 14 field goals were second best in the NAIA last season while his 85 kicking points ranked seventh in the nation.

Cooks -- the lone punt returner on the squad -- averaged 12.8 yards per punt return last season in 32 attempts. He added 60 receptions for 649 yards on offense while averaging 21.2 yards per kickoff return.

Keyes and Brackins make up half of the four defensive backs on the team.

Keyes finished 2016 with 86 tackles and six interceptions -- which ranked seventh in the NAIA. Brackins was second on the Lindsey Wilson defense with 88 tackles while recording three interceptions in 13 games last season for the Blue Raiders.

Clark joins Keyes and Brackins and the defensive side of the ball.

Clark recorded 41 tackles, including 14-1/2 tackles for a loss in just eight games last season. He added eight sacks to average one sack per game -- which ranked ninth best in the NAIA last season.

Carter and Oliver represent the MSC on the offensive line.

Oliver anchored a Warner offensive line that helped the Royals rush for 221 yards per game last season. Carter's efforts a year ago helped Reinhardt lead the NAIA in rushing, averaging 360 yards per game.

Clark and Cooks are two of three players that were also on the 2016 preseason team.

The Mid-South Conference opens its 2017 season on Thursday, August 24 with a pair of games with seven more games on Saturday, August 26.
