Williamsburg, KY – University of the Cumberlands Athletic Director Chris Kraftick has announced the hiring of Bailey Dillender as the Patriots new softball coach.  Dillender becomes just the third head coach in the program's history.

"We are thrilled to welcome Bailey to our staff. Her energy and passion for the game is contagious," said Kraftick. "Bailey is a Kentucky native and played in the MSC, couple that with her experience coaching at Tennessee Tech made her a perfect fit for this position."

Dillender comes to UC from Tennessee Tech where she has served as an assistant coach for the past three years.  Dillender performed a variety of tasks including conducting individual workouts, recruitment of players, and field work.  She specialized on defense primarily working with the infielders and catchers. While there she helped the Golden Eagles to the 2015 Ohio Valley Conference tournament championships and an appearance in the NCAA tournament.

"I'm very excited about joining the Patriots, Cumberlands is building a culture that you want to be a part of and after meeting with Dr. Cockrum and Chris (Kraftick) it was known that they believe in success for softball at UC," said Dillender. "The opportunity to be a head coach in such a highly competitive conference is too good to be true"

Dillender might be a familiar face to Patriots fans as she spent six years (four as a player and two as a coach) across the diamond at Mid-South Conference rival Campbellsville.  As a player Dillender played in 230 games for the Tigers finishing her career with a .383 batting average, 269 career hits, 215 RBI's, 55 doubles, and 48 homeruns.  She garnered MSC Player of the Year honors in both 2010 and 2011, while being a four time First Team All-Conference selection. Dillender made Mid-South Conference history as she was the first MSC player to earn NAIA Player of the Week accolade. She also garnered the NFCA second team All-American honors and was a two time NCCAA All-American. Dillender was also a two time Mid-South Conference Academic All-Conference selection.

After wrapping up her playing career, Dillender remained at Campbellsville as an assistant coach for two seasons.  In her two seasons with the Tigers she helped guide them to an 87-38 record and a share of the Mid-South Conference regular season title in 2013.  Her duties included conducting individual workouts, assisted with hitting and infield, scouting and game management, recruitment of players, and field work.

"This opportunity is a homecoming for me for a couple of reasons, the Mid-South Conference was incredible to me as a player and my family lives in Lexington so I'll be much closer," added Dillender.

Dillender has previously served as the head coach of Southern Force Softball and hitter instructor at Borders Softball Academy.

Kraftick said, "We are committed to the success of UC Softball and we're really looking forward to supporting Bailey and her program in the coming years."
