MOBILE, Ala. – Second-seeded Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) began its run in the national tournament with a 5-0 win over Mid-South Conference foe, and 15th-seeded, Cumberlands (Ky.), 5-0, during the second round of the NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship on Wednesday afternoon.

The Blue Raiders (20-4) face the winner of seventh-seeded Xavier (La.) and 10th-seeded Indiana Wesleyan in the quarterfinals of the national tournament on Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. CT. The Patriots finished its 2016-17 season with an overall record of 16-9.

In a top-10 match up at No. 1 doubles, the duo of Fiona Curty and Maria Prados Cid (ranked seventh in the NAIA) upended Isabella Dale and Jaclyn Jewell (No. 5 in the NAIA), 8-2. Minja Gligic and Jovana Peric (No. 23 in the NAIA) gave Lindsey Wilson a two-point lead with an 8-4 victory at second-seeded doubles over Maria Ochoa and Marian Bogajo.

Alex Shchipakina and Natalia Kattah completed the doubles sweep and No. 3 after earning an 8-1 win over Denee Lyttle and Luka Lyttle.

Needing just two singles points to clinch the victory, Kattah pushed Cumberlands on the brink of elimination with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Bogajo at sixth-seeded singles. Prados Cid (ranked 46th in the nation) secured the 5-0 win for the Blue Raiders after winning at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-2, over Denee Lyttle.

Lindsey Wilson has now won 16-straight matches after starting the season at 4-4. The Patriots have suffered five losses since March 13 with four losses coming against the Blue Raiders, and the fifth was against No. 1 Georgia Gwinnett.

The Patriots finish the season with a record of 16-9.

Lindsey Wilson is back in action on Thursday at 1 p.m. CT against the winner of Xavier and Indiana Wesleyan in the national quarterfinals at the Mobile Tennis Center.
