NAIA Softball Opening Round Hosts
COLUMBIA, Ky. – Campbellsville (Ky.) and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) were each selected to host an opening round bracket for the NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round, the national office announced on Wednesday.
Both teams also earned a host bid into the national tournament, which is scheduled to being on May 15 at 10 host sites across the country.
Campbellsville and the Bowling Green Convention and Visitors Bureau are co-hosts for its opening round tournament at Michael O. Buchanon Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Buchanon Park is also scheduled to host the Mid-South Conference Softball Tournament later next week.
Lindsey Wilson is slated to host its fifth-straight opening round tournament in Columbia, Ky. The Blue Raiders are one of two programs to host an opening round each of the five seasons the opening round has been part of the national tournament.
The eight remaining hosts include: Columbia (Mo.), Davenport (Mich.), Georgia Gwinnett, LSU Alexandria (La.), Morningside (Iowa), Oklahoma City, Vanguard (Calif.) and William Carey (Miss.).
Campbellsville and Vanguard are the only two institutions hosting its first opening round, while Oklahoma City joins Lindsey Wilson in hosting its fifth opening round.
The 10 four-team opening round tournament will be played May 15-17 with each opening round winner earning a bid to the NAIA Softball World Series in Clermont, Florida on May 26-June 1.
