BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The 2017 Mid-South Conference Bowling Championships are set to begin on Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. CT and runs through Sunday evening at Southern Lanes in Bowling Green, Ky.

Singles and doubles competition get the event kicked off on Friday with the men starting at 8:30 a.m. CT, followed by the women at 2 p.m. CT. Each team may enter up to eight bowlers for singles and doubles action. The double-elimination team match play tournament takes place on Saturday and Sunday starting at 9 a.m. CT on both days.

On the men's side, Pikeville (Ky.) won the regular season championship and grabbed the top seed in the 11-team bracket. Pikeville faces the winner of eighth-seeded Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) and ninth-seeded Union (Ky.). Martin Methodist (Tenn.) is the No. 2 seed in the tournament and is slated to face the winner of the No. 7 Life (Ga.) and No. 10 Cumberland (Tenn.).

Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) grabbed the final top-three seed in the bracket and faces the winner of sixth-seeded Cumberlands (Ky.) and 11th-seeded Tennessee Wesleyan. No. 4 Campbellsville (Ky.) battles No. 5 Bethel in final second round game of the tournament.

Pikeville also captured the regular season title and No. 1 seed in the women's 10-team tournament. The Bears are scheduled to face the winner of No. 8-seeded Cumberland and No. 9-seeded Tennessee Wesleyan.

The final opening round match features seventh-seeded Union facing 10th-seeded Lindsey Wilson; where the winner moves on to face second-seeded Lindenwood-Belleville. In the final two second round matches, No. 3 Campbellsville battles No. 6 Bethel and No. 4 Martin Methodist competes against No. 5 Cumberlands.

The men's and women's double-elimination tournaments use Baker Scoring where five bowlers bowl team frames each resulting in a team score.

Martin Methodist enters the tournament as the defending champions on the men's side after winning its first ever tournament title last season.

On the women's side, Pikeville is the two-time defending tournament champions coming into the weekend.

The Mid-South Conference Bowling Banquet takes place on Thursday night at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Ky.; starting at 7 p.m. CT. Competition begins Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. CT at Southern Lanes.
