LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Georgetown College softball team is the Mid-South Conference preseason favorite in 2009, according to the conference coaches' preseason poll released on Wednesday.
Georgetown -- looking to repeat after winning the 2008 Mid-South Conference regular season title -- received 35 points, including five first-place votes.
Campbellsville University finished a close second in the voting with 33 points and the final two first-place votes. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.
University of the Cumberlands (24) and Lindsey Wilson College (23) are projected to finish third and fourth in league play.
Pikeville College (17), St. Catharine College (10) and West Virginia University Institute of Technology (7) complete the preseason poll.
