LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of the Cumberlands freshman forward Lauren Wombles is the Mid-South Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the MSC announced today.

The weekly conference award is her second of the season.

Wombles averaged 16.5 points and 9.5 rebounds while helping the Patriots to a pair of wins at the Cumberland (Tenn.) University Classic.

The London, Ky., native, recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 21 points and 11 rebounds in a 76-68 win over No. 3-ranked Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University. In the second game of the classic, Wombles scored 12 points and pulled down eight rebounds in a 59-44 win over host Cumberland.

On the week, Wombles shot 76.5 percent (13-of-17) from the field and 87.5 percent (7-of-8) from the free throw line.

Wombles leads the team averaging 19.4 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. She is shooting nearly 61 percent from the field this season.

No. 21-ranked Cumberlands is 6-2 on the season.
