LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of the Cumberlands' freshman forward Lauren Wombles is the Mid-South Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the MSC announced today.

Wombles recorded a double-double in each of the Patriots two wins last week to earn the conference's first player of the week award of the season.

The London, Ky., native, averaged 20.5 points and 14 rebounds in wins over Covenant College and Bluefield College. She shot 56.2 percent (18-of-32) from the field on the week.

Wombles scored 17 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in a 68-46 win over Covenant. One night later, Wombles made 11-of-20 shots and scored 24 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in the Patriots' 65-44 win over Bluefield.

Wombles leads the Patriots in scoring (21.4) and rebounds (11.4) this season. She is second in the MSC in scoring and leads the league in rebounds per game.

No. 21-ranked Cumberlands is 4-1 on the season.
