Four Mid-South Conference teams are ranked and three others received votes in the NAIA Football Top 25 Preseason Coaches' Poll released today by the NAIA. Bethel (Tenn.) College tops the MSC teams at No. 6 in the poll as the Wildcats received 280 points from the 15 head coaches representing each of the conferences and independents. Bethel finished 2007 with an 11-2 record including a 5-0 record to win Mid-South Conference West Division. University of Virginia's College at Wise is No. 14 after receiving 131 points. The Cavaliers finished 2007 with a 9-2 record, including a 4-1 record in the MSC East Division. Georgetown (Ky.) College is No. 16 and University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) is No. 22 in the preseason poll. Georgetown received 124 points after a 6-4 season in 2007, while Cumberlands garnered 93 points after an 8-3 season a year ago. Cumberland (Tenn.) University (21 points), Shorter (Ga.) College (6) and Campbellsville (Ky.) University (1) received votes in the poll. Defending NAIA National Champion Carroll (Mont.) College sits atop the poll with 340 points, including all 15 first place votes. The first regular season Top 25 poll will be announced on Sept. 15. |
