Tisdol's National Title in the Long Jump also gives him another distinct honor. With the win he became the first Patriot track student-athlete to win a national title in an NAIA Outdoor National Field event.
Cumberlands Assistant Track & Field Coach BJ Temple stated, "We are extremely proud of Eric and his accomplishments. He has gone through so much adversity in his life with his academics and sport training, yet he still has excelled. Although he has performed well all season, he stepped up his level of competition at the right time and it has earned him honors that will be etched in the record books."
Eric also competed in the High Jump at the National Meet where he placed 4th with a jump of 2.06m. His fourth place finish earned him the right of All-American status. With that honor, he set yet another Cumberlands record when he became the first UC track student-athlete to become an NAIA All-American in two field events, the first of which being his All-American title in the Long Jump.
Only a sophomore, Tisdol has two additional years of competition left to contribute to the Patriot Track & Field program. His humble, modest, yet determined attitude is sure to earn him numerous honors as he finishes his Patriot career.
