John Hill of the Cumberlands and Candela Castanon of Lindsey Wilson are this week's honorees.
The Mid-South Conference has announced that John Hill of the University of the Cumberlands and Candela Castanon of Lindsey Wilson College are the first MSC Tennis Players of the Week for the 2008 season.
Castanon dropped just three games in two singles and two doubles matches this week. The Sante Fe, Argentina, native, helped the Blue Raiders to a 9-0 sweep of Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College on March 10 by winning 6-2, 6-1 in No. 1 singles and 8-0 in No. 1 doubles. Against the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.), Castanon won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles and won No. 1 doubles with Weyreuter 8-0.
Against Maryville College, Hill won his doubles match 8-4 and his singles match 6-2, 6-2 to help the Patriots to a 5-4 win. Against Berea, Hill won his doubles match 8-3 to lead the Patriots to a 5-0 win. Hill won 8-1 in a convincing doubles win against Campbellsville University, leading to a 5-1 team win.
