LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Shawnee State's Jake Lankheit is the Mid-South Conference Baseball Player of the Week and teammate Jordan Williams is the MSC Pitcher of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.

Lankheit and Williams each earn their first weekly conference honors of the season and of their careers.

Lankheit hit safely in four of five Shawnee State games -- all wins -- to amass a .391 batting average to earn the conference's player of the week honor.

The Covington, Ky., freshman catcher, concluded the week with 11 RBIs, five runs scored and four extra base hits -- two doubles and two triples.

Lankheit's most productive game came in the Bears' 23-3 win over Ohio Chillicothe where he ended the game 3-for-5 with two runs and six RBIs. He also recorded a four-hit, three-RBI game in a 12-7 win over Bluefield during the week.

Lankheit is hitting .348 this season and is tied for eighth in the Mid-South with 15 RBIs this season.

Williams appeared in four of the Bears' five games and picked up a win and two saves to earn the conference's top weekly pitching honor.

The Uniontown, Ohio, senior, threw seven innings in relief last week compiling a 2.57 ERA. In his one win, Williams pitched 2-1/3 scoreless innings while scattering three hits and striking out four Bluefield hitters in an 8-5 win.

Williams is 3-1 this season and leads the Mid-South with three saves. His 2.11 ERA ranks ninth in the conference while limiting opponents to a .205 batting average -- tied for sixth best in the MSC.

With last week's 5-0 record, Shawnee State improves to 12-9 overall and is tied atop the Mid-South standings at 3-0.

The next baseball players of the week awards are scheduled to be announced on Monday, March 11.
