LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Shawnee State University senior Tyler Morgan is the Mid-South Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.

The conference weekly award is Morgan's second of the season and third of his career. Morgan also earned the award this season on Jan. 7.

He is the first player to earn the award twice this season.

Morgan recorded a pair of double-doubles in two Shawnee State wins last week.

The Hammersville, Ohio, forward scored 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in 26 minutes in the Bears' 80-57 win over host Wilberforce (Ohio) in a non-conference showdown. Morgan made eight of his 14 shots in the win.

On Saturday, Morgan recorded his conference-leading seventh double-double of the season in an 89-57 win over Bluefield. He scored 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to help the Bears win for the sixth time in seven games.

Morgan ended the week averaging 21.5 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 53.6 percent (15-of-28) from the floor. He made half of his four 3-point attempts and 11 for 16 from the free throw line in the two wins.

Morgan ranks ninth in the Mid-South Conference averaging 16.2 points per game while leading the conference in rebounding (9.1 per contest).

Nationally, Morgan is sixth in the NAIA in rebounds per game.

With its wins, Shawnee State improves to 11-7 overall and is third in the Mid-South Conference standings at 7-3.

The next men's basketball player of the week award is scheduled to be announced on Monday, Jan. 28.
