LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of the Cumberlands leads the Mid-South Conference President's Cup race following the winter competition that concluded in March.

Cumberlands amassed 79.5 points through the fall and winter competition to lead second-place Lindsey Wilson College (76.5 points) by three points entering the spring.

Georgetown College -- the co-leader with Cumberlands after the fall -- is third with 73 points and defending cup champion Campbellsville University is fourth with 72 points.

Shawnee State University (54) is fifth followed by University of Rio Grande (41.5), University of Pikeville (35.5), University of Virginia's College at Wise (33.5) and St. Catharine College (32.5).

West Virginia University Tech is not eligible for the President's Cup due to being ineligible for regular season championships in the MSC in 2011-12.

Points are awarded based on the final regular season standings for each conference-sanctioned sport. The regular season champion in each sport receives 10 points with second place receiving nine points, etc. At the conclusion of the 2011-12 season, the top six male and top six female team finishes for each institution will generate the institution's overall totals.

Through the winter season, five men's and five women's sports have been completed. The fall season consisted of men's and women's cross country, football, men's and women's soccer and volleyball while the winter sports included men's and women's basketball, cheerleading and wrestling.

Cumberlands sits atop the standings thanks to a tie for first place in women's basketball and second place finishes in men's and women's cross country and football. The Patriots also own two third place finishes and three four place finishes.

The spring edition of the MSC President's Cup standings are scheduled to be announced in mid-May.
