COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College senior guard Chase Spreen's near full-court buzzer-beater against Georgetown (Ky.) on Jan. 14 is nominated for the GEICO Play of the Year, Intersport announced on Monday.

Over an eight-week span, four incredible college basketball plays will be nominated as the GEICO Play of the Year.

Each week's winner will be determined by fan voting through the official Facebook page (facebook.com/BestofCollegeBasketball).

The eight finalists will compete in a week-long competition to determine the GEICO Play of the Year. The winner will be announced during the GEICO Best of College Basketball special which airs March 25 at Noon CT on CBS.

In addition to recognizing the season's top plays, the one-hour CBS special will relive the season's greatest moments, players and traditions. The show reviews the GEICO Best of 2012 Basketball Tour, an interactive fan experience that visits 10 marquee games throughout the basketball season.

With two seconds left and down by two points, the Blue Raiders lined up for a Georgetown free throw.

The second shot caromed off the rim and Spreen pulled down the rebound. The senior took one dribble before launching the ball from his own free-throw line. The buzzer sounded and Spreen's prayer was answered as the gym erupted.

Lindsey Wilson came away with the 79-78 victory. Spreen's full-court heave is competing against three other plays from week four, including a monster one-handed alley-oop by Ohio State's Sam Thompson, a game-winning up-and-under lay-up by San Diego State's Jamaal Franklin and a one-handed slam in the face of a defender by UMass' Raphiael Putney.

Fans can share their vote with their Facebook friends. Week four voting opened on Monday and ends Monday, Jan. 30, at 10:59 a.m. CT.

Indiana's ChristianWatford won week one with his game-winning 3-pointer against Kentucky; Purdue's Robbie Hummel won week two with his buzzer-beating tip-dunk against IPFW; Oral Roberts' Damen Bell-Holter won week three with his full-court buzzer-beater against UA-Little Rock.
