KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Lindsey Wilson College's Chase Spreen continues to add accolades to his résumé as the senior guard earned NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week, NAIA officials announced on Tuesday.
The award comes on the heels of Spreen earning his first Mid-South Conference Player of the Week honor of the season on Monday. Spreen led the Blue Raiders to two wins last week in conference play.
Spreen made national headlines with his 80-foot shot as time expired to beat then-No. 5-ranked Georgetown College 79-78 on Saturday. The shot capped a come-from-behind win -- Lindsey Wilson trailed earlier in the second half by 19 points -- over the Tigers.
During the game, Spreen scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds. His buzzer-beater was his career-high fifth three-pointer of the game.
Two days earlier, the Bedford, Ind., native produced a stat line of 17 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals in the Blue Raiders 85-78 win over visiting Shawnee State University. Spreen made 7-of-12 shots in the game, including three of his four three-point attempts.
Spreen finished the week shooting 58.3 percent (14-of-24) from the field, including eight for 11 (72.7 percent) from beyond the three-point arc. He averaged 20 points, seven rebounds and two assists during the week.
Spreen ranks seventh in the MSC this season averaging 16.4 points. He is second in the conference in free throw shooting (83 percent) and eighth in three-point shooting (39.8).
No. 14-ranked Lindsey Wilson is 13-4 overall this season and is second in the MSC with a 5-1 conference record. The Blue Raiders travel to Campbellsville University on Thursday and St. Catharine College on Saturday.
