LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Shawnee State University's Jami Turrill is the Mid-South Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 5, the conference announced on Monday.
Turrill is also the MSC Hitter of the Week, while teammates Haley Halcomb and Tiffany Dailey earn MSC setter and libero of the week respectively. The conference award is the first of the season for Turrill and Dailey and the second consecutive award for Halcomb
Turrill, a native of Albany, Ohio, averaged 4.6 kills per game en route to earning Taylor University Invitational All-Tournament honors.
The senior outside hitter, amassed a .422 hitting percentage with 92 kills and just 16 errors in 180 attempts. Turrell also finished the week with 50 digs, 10 solo blocks and 15 assisted blocks.
Turrill leads the MSC with a 4.6 kills per game average and is fifth in the conference with a .385 hitting percentage.
Halcomb averaged 11.25 assists, including a pair of matches of 50-plus assists. The Frankfort, Ohio, native, added 44 digs, one solo block and six assisted blocks.
Halcomb's signature match came in the Bears' 3-2 win over No. 10-ranked Taylor (Ind.) University. She recorded a double-double with 54 assists and 17 digs.
Halcomb leads the MSC with an 11.6 assists per game average. She ranks fourth in the NAIA in the same category.
Dailey averaged 4.35 digs per game and committed just five receiving errors in her 76 chances. The Chillicothe, Ohio, native, also contributed a pair of service aces while amassing a .971 service percentage.
Dailey ranks third in the MSC and 31st in the NAIA with a 5.0 digs per game average.
No. 19-ranked Shawnee State is 7-2 on the season and after winning four of five matches last week. The Bears return to action on Sept. 9 as they travel to Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) University.
The next volleyball players of the week are scheduled to be announced on Monday, Sept. 13.
