LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Pikeville College senior Becky Davenport and junior Meagan Johnson are the Mid- South Conference Women's Soccer Players of the Week for the week ending Aug. 28, the conference announced on Monday.

Davenport stopped 19 of 21 shots this week in goal for the Bears to earn MSC Defensive Player of the Week.

Davenport collected 16 saves in the Bears 2-2 tie against Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University. She completed her week with thee saves in a 3-0 shutout of Midway (Ky.) College

The Nicholasville, Ky., goalkeeper, ended the week with a 1.00 goals against average and 19 saves.

Johnson tallied two goals and an assist on the week to earn MSC Offensive Player of the Week.

The Westerville, Ohio, midfielder, scored a goal and assisted on the other in the Freed-Hardeman tie. Johnson closed with her second goal of the week to help the Bears beat Midway.

Johnson leads the Mid-South in scoring with five points on the season and is tied for the conference lead with two goals.

Pikeville is 1-0-1 on the season with games this week against Lambuth (Tenn.) University and Central Baptist (Ark.) College in the Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University Lions Cup in Henderson, Tenn.

Davenport and Johnson are the first recipients of the weekly conference awards. The next women's soccer players of the week are scheduled to be announced on Monday, Sept. 6.
