LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of the Cumberlands is the team to beat in Mid-South Conference women's cross country in 2010, according to the MSC Preseason Coaches' Poll released today by the conference.
The Patriots -- the defending MSC champions -- received 74 voting points from the conference coaches, including five first-place votes. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.
MSC newcomer Shawnee State University is projected to finish second with 72 voting points, including the remaining five first-place votes.
University of Rio Grande is predicted to finish third with 64 voting points and Campbellsville University is fourth with 59 points.
Lindsey Wilson College (53 voting points), Georgetown College (43), Pikeville College (29), University of Virginia's College at Wise (22), St. Catharine College (18) and West Virginia University Tech (16) completes the preseason poll.
The Mid-South Conference Championships are scheduled for Nov. 6 in Portsmouth, Ohio.
