RIO GRANDE, Ohio -- Shorter College captured the Mid-South Conference Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at University of Rio Grande.

The Shorter men captured the program's third straight conference title after accumulating 215 team points. University of the Cumberlands finished second with 130.5 points and Rio Grande finished third with 111 points.

Georgetown College (108 points), Lindsey Wilson College (100), Campbellsville University (93.5) and Bethel University (68) rounds out the seven-team conference field.

Shorter won 10 events -- the most of any school -- including all three relay events. Seven different Hawks earned all-conference honors for winning their event. All-conference honors were handed out to the top finishers in the 19 men's individual events.

Cumberlands senior Eric Tisdol earned MSC Men's Track & Field Player of the Year for scoring the most points in the event. Tisdol scored 29 points over five events. His best finishes were a pair of seconds in the Long Jump and High Jump.

Lindsey Wilson's Jairus Kipkemoi is the MSC Freshman of Year and Shorter's Scott Byrd was voted Coach of the Year by his peers.

Georgetown's John Michael Mayo is the Champions of Character recipient. Mayo earned the award -- as voted on by the conference athletics director -- for his civic and servant leadership within the campus and community.

Eighteen student-athletes were honored following the events for their work in the classroom. Academic all-conference honors are reserved for sophomore or above standing and maintaining at least a 3.25 GPA.
